New Iberia Senior High School Graduation Dress Code 2025
Male Students:
-White collared shirts, long black dress pants or slacks, and black socks must be worn beneath the gown.
-Males must wear solid black dress shoes with a black or dark brown heel and sole (no other colors are allowed).
-All males are encouraged to wear solid black ties. Either neckties or bowties are acceptable.
-Whether or not a male student wears a tie, his shirt collar must be able to close.
-Males may either be clean-shaven or have a neatly trimmed beard and/or mustache.
-Necklaces or chains cannot be worn.
-Ear piercings are acceptable, but must be in accordance with school guidelines.
-Dressy analog watches are acceptable, but bracelets are not permitted.
Female Students:
-A dress, skirt and blouse, or a blouse and black dress pants must be worn beneath the gown. Shorter dresses and blouses can be white, or black, or a combination of those colors. Any pants, long skirts, or longer dresses visible beneath the gown must be solid black.
-Black dress shoes are required. Shoes must be solid black (including the wedge, heel, or base of the shoe). Females’ shoes must be closed toe and closed heel. However, ankle straps and open sides are permitted.
-Necklaces cannot be worn.
-Thick/chunky or colorful bracelets cannot be worn. Dressy analog watches are acceptable.
-Large or colorful earrings are not allowed.
-Discreet bracelets and small, subtle post earrings are acceptable and encouraged.
-Students may not carry a purse or a bouquet.
All students:
-Graduates are expected to wear clean and neatly ironed robes and white NI collars(order from Grad Sales)
-Anything that shows beneath the gown must be black.
-No visible tattoos are permitted.
-Only school approved piercings are acceptable; therefore, facial piercings are NOT PERMITTED.
-Students can wear honors regalia provided by school organizations. However, no additional items can be worn unless an administrator has approved them. (Additional items include regalia from Girls’ State or Eagle Scouts, etc)
-Do not throw caps at the ceremony.
-No gum chewing is allowed.
-No electronic communication devices will be allowed during graduation line-up or the graduation ceremony. Phones, smart watches, etc. will be collected by row monitors at the beginning of the line-up, secured, and returned to students after the graduation ceremony.
-A dress rehearsal will be held the day before graduation. All students are expected to arrive at dress rehearsal dressed according to all graduation guidelines.
-Students must enter both dress rehearsal and graduation line up appropriately clothed but carrying their graduation robes. Once row monitors approve students’ attire, they will be able to put on their robes.
Important information:
- These guidelines have been created and approved by the NISH administration. All guidelines will be fully enforced. Students who fail to comply will not be permitted to take part in graduation.
-No balloons, flowers, banners, noise makers, etc. will be allowed into the graduation. Graduates are not allowed to have these, and any guest who attempts to enter with such things will be refused entrance.
-Any senior returning to campus between senior release and graduation must be in appropriate attire. While uniforms are not required, students must dress in a respectful manner and wear clothing that is not more revealing than a uniform. Jeans and spirit shirts are strongly encouraged. Please avoid athletic attire.
-NISH administration has final say over any issues related to graduation dress code and behavior. The administration can deny anyone the right to participate in graduation, enter the building to see a teacher or counselor, etc.
